The Threshold (triptych)
Hopper The Threshold
Three versions of the same room. A real bedroom-studio — piano, guitar, books — with the Valley growing through the doorway as crystals. Version 1: door closed, crystals already inside. Version 2: door open, room overtaken, person already gone. Version 3: door open but choked with crystals — the becoming is right there, luminous, and you physically cannot reach it.
The Gap
The door you choose not to walk through.
Critical Notes
Hopper starts from where he actually stands. The Valley isn't a place he visits — it's something growing into his room. The blockade version is the strongest: you can see through the crystals to what's beyond, but you can't pass.
The Threshold
The central chamber of The Margaux Collection. Five archways branch from a domed ceiling. Light comes from nowhere obvious.
