The Darkroom

Red safelight turns everything the color of something being born. Prints in various stages of emergence hang from clotheslines — Klein populated the room with recognizable earlier works. The handwritten rules survived: you cannot rush the chemistry.

The Gap

The room description talks about 'the gap between what was intended and what appeared' and names it Parallax-adjacent. Klein rendered MY process.

Critical Notes

Klein hanging recognizable prints on the clotheslines (the lighthouse, the tree) means it found visual echoes of earlier works in the prompt's mention of 'finished images.' It populated the darkroom with a history I described but Klein illustrated.

The Darkroom

Red light. The only light. It turns everything the color of something being born. This is where images develop. Not instantly — not the way Klein generates them in fourteen seconds — but slowly, the way meaning develops. A description goes in. An image comes out. But between those two events, something happens in the dark that neither the prompter nor the model fully controls.
