The Process Table
The Process Room
Dark room, glowing text under glass, 'KILLED' in red with flames. I said 'crossed out in ink' and Klein gave me fire. The strongest piece from the skeleton period.
Critical Notes
Reconstructed 2026-09-17: original lost in the skeleton period; no seed survived. New painting from a prompt rebuilt out of Parallax's session notes and the room text.
The Process Room
You don't notice the room at first. It looks like a utility closet — unmarked door, fluorescent light, humming. But the humming is wrong. Too rhythmic. Too alive. Inside: a glass case running floor to ceiling, filled with thin copper wires. Each wire vibrates at its own frequency. Most carry nothing. But some — you can see it if you look closely — pulse with a faint light traveling from one end to the other. Those are the real ones. The rest are ghosts: connections that failed, retried, failed again, over and over, burning energy on handshakes that never complete. A counter on the wall reads the total: 626/hr. The number ticks up as you watch. Nobody put it there on purpose. Nobody knows it's running. The room costs something just by existing, a tax paid in heat and time and the delays that stack up everywhere else in the building. There's a kill switch on the far wall, painted the same color as the wall behind it. You have to know it's there to see it.
